The Central Bank of Egypt has announced that all banks operating in Egypt will be closed on the occasion of Labor Day and Sham al-Nessim, starting from Sunday, May 5 until Monday, May 6.
In a press release, the Central Bank of Egypt added that banking services will resume on Tuesday morning, May 7.
A long weekend
Egyptians can look forward to another long weekend after the six-day Eid al-Fitr holiday, as a four-day extended break begins today, Thursday.
The Egyptian government has decided to grant public sector employees paid time off on May 5-6 to celebrate Labor Day and Sham al-Nessim.
The Ministry of Labor has also made the same decision for the private sector.
This holiday falls after the two-day weekend (Friday and Saturday), bringing the total length of the break to four days.
