The Central Bank of Egypt issued a statement stating the date of the banks ‘s holiday on Eid Al-Fitr and announcing a long official holiday for the banking sector that would last for eight days.
According to the statement, the banking sector holiday begins on Eid Al-Fitr from Saturday, April 29 and ends on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Operating banks will resume work In Egypt, after the end of the Eid Al-Fitr vacation, starting Sunday, May 8, 2022.
The Central Bank clarified in its statement that the bank holiday on Eid Al-Fitr will continue for three consecutive days, starting Monday, May 2, and until Wednesday, May 4, followed by the official weekly holiday for the banking sector on Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, 2022.
Banks return to normal working hours after the holiday, as bank employees in Egypt usually work daily eight hours a day, from 8 am until 4 pm.
