General Prosecutor Hesham Barakat on Sunday referred Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie and Brotherhood leaders Mohamed al-Beltagy and Essam al-Erian to a criminal court on charges of inciting violence during the al-Bahr al-Azam incidents.
South Giza Prosecution had earlier detained Badie, Beltagy and Erian for 15 days on charges of inciting the al-Bahr al-Azam incidents .Seven people were killed and 101 others injured in clashes that broke out during Ramadan between supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy on one hand and security forces and residents on the other.
Badie, Beltagy, Deputy Supreme Guide Khairat al-Shater, and other Brotherhood leadership had been referred for criminal trials earlier on charges of murder and attempted murder in the Bein al-Sarayat incidents.
