Bad weather closes Safaga, Hurghada seaports

Red Sea port authorities decided to close the Safaga and Hurghada seaports due to bad weather conditions and a dust storm that will last for two days.

Abdel Raheem Mostafa, the authority’s spokesperson, said navigation at the two seaports was suspended, no ferries were being received due to the bad weather, high waves were reaching 3-4 meters and winds were blowing at 30 knots/hour. He said that all companies that operate ferries were notified.

The closure decision caused the cancellation of four passengers and freighters trips between the two ports and the Saudi Daba port. It also delayed the arrival and travel of around 1,400 passengers and 60 cargo trucks.
