The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed al-Tayyeb donated on Thursday LE500,000 to the Tahya Misr Fund to support the fund’s various projects, including the healthcare projects.
Tayyeb donated the amount from The Human Fraternity Award – Dar Zayed, which was jointly awarded to Pope Francis and Tayyeb in recognition of their firm position in defense of peace and the values of human fraternity.
Tayyeb praised the achievements of the fund, which the Egyptian government established in 2014 to carry out national development projects such as the mass treatment of Hepatitis C, the establishment of widespread care for homeless children and the support of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The Tahya Misr Fund is a non-profit organization that works under the supervision of the Egyptian presidency to improve the lives of poor people, create job opportunities, treat epidemic diseases impacting Egyptians and face crises and catastrophes.
