Authorities release MB members charged with electoral violations

Sixty-five members of the banned Muslim Brotherhood opposition group were released on Wednesday by the order of Adel Omara, attorney general for East Alexandria’s Prosecution Office.

The men had been arrested on Tuesday in several districts of Alexandria for hanging campaign posters bearing the slogan “Islam is the solution.”

Egypt's High Elections Commission has banned the use of religiously-themed campaign slogans in the run-up to next month's parliamentary elections.

In related news, five MB leaders arrested on Wednesday will be questioned by prosecutors on Thursday.
