Cairo Airport authorities on Wednesday developed a plan for securing the airport in preparation for 11 February, the anniversary of former President Mubarak’s resignation. Political forces, particularly the April 6 Youth Movement and supporters of Mohamed ElBaradei, have called for nationwide civil disobedience on that day to demand a swift handover of power to civilians and speedier trials for those involved in killing demonstrators.
The security plan was agreed to Wednesday at a meeting attended by representatives of Cairo Airport Company, the police, customs authorities, and Ministry of Civil Aviation, a security source told MENA news agency.
The security source said the plan takes precautionary measures against attempts to spread chaos, adding that check points would be placed at entrances to check all vehicles entering the airport.
The sources also said that airport authorities will check identities of all those present at the airport. Criminal Investigations agents will be present in the parking area.
No coalitions, associations or unions for workers in the Ministry of Civil Aviation and its affiliated bodies have announced their participation in the civil disobedience.
