Authorities confiscate 200,000 bladed weapons at Sokhna port

Police have foiled an attempt to smuggle 200,000 bladed weapons into Egypt, seized on a vessel coming from China.

The customs authority received information that a smuggler had imported weapons banned from entering the country in preparation for distributing them inside Egypt.

The Suez customs authority managed to detect the weapons using X-ray machines available at the port.

The shipment was falsely registered as cargo of stationery to be delivered to a businessman.

A report of the incident was filed at Ataqa police station in Suez. The items were seized and a fine of LE7.5 million was imposed.
