AUC launches the Egyptian Migration Hub In cooperation with EU

The Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) of the American University in Cairo (AUC) is launching the Egyptian Migration Hub (EHUB) in cooperation with the European Commission in Egypt.

The EHUB aims to bring together all stakeholders concerned with migration in Egypt, including academics, practitioners, government officials, UN agencies, NGOs, researchers and policy makers, to exchange experiences, build trust, and agree on a reference regarding the general framework and available policy options related to migration.

The forum’s activities will vary to include holding meetings, online workshops, in-person training, media training, podcasting and policy briefs.

The launch ceremony will be attended by representatives of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Egypt, the Migration Unit of the German International Cooperation Agency, Justice Ministry, Manpower Ministry, Plan International, Save the Children, the International Labor Organization, Maat for Peace and Development, Catholic Relief Services, Saint Andrew’s Refugee Services, the Red Cross, the Red Crescent, CARE International, several embassies and others, and Arabic translation will also be provided for attendees.

Speaking at the ceremony will be Ambassador Ehab Badawy, Assistant Minister for Multilateral Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Nevine al-Husseini, Deputy Assistant Minister for Multilateral Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, Laurent de Boeck, Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration, Eric Oechslin, Country Director of the International Labor Organization, and Ayman Zohri, President of the Egyptian Migration Association, Ambassador Christian Berger, the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Egypt, Ibrahim Awad, Professor of Public Policy and Director of the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies at the AUC.
