Attorney-General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud has ordered an urgent trial for those responsible for the collapse of an Alexandrian garment factory on Sunday. Sixteen workers were killed in the accident and ten others injured.
Mahmoud has also drawn up a committee of Alexandria University professors mandated with determining the cause of the accident and possible criminal liability on the part of the factory's owners.
One of the factory's owners has already been arrested, while another is currently in hospital for medical treatment. Both face police investigations.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the owners had failed to obtain an official license to build the factory.
