The Artbeat festival promises four days of art commotion in Egypt. The festival, brainchild of the Cairo Jazz Club, Darb 17 and 18 in collaboration with the Goethe Institute and Robert Bosch Stiftung in Minya is a four-day festival (10 to 13 June) held in four different venues in Cairo and the Minya governorate. Among the participants are:
Spanish band La Banda Del Pepo and German band Robert Fischer and Zaebo, who will share their knowledge and insights into the art of creating and living electronic music. Topics will include the origins of electronic sound-creation in Germany, the characteristic “German Sound,” and how this sound is created in the studio.
Also playing is the Swiss band I Trio with its unique blend of guitar, drums and bass, as well as the Dutch group A Fula’s Call.
Egyptian bands participating are: Massar Egbari and El Dor El Awwal, as well as a handful of Egyptian folklore music and dance through the Mallawy Group for Stick Dancing, Al Nile Band for Folklore Music, and Minya band for Folk music.
Art exhibitions will include the works of the following artists: Mohamed Khalifa (Egypt); Yazid Oulab (Algeria); Nathan Doss (Egypt); Moataz Nasr El Din (Egypt); Peterson Waweru Kamwathi (Kenya); Prina Shah (Kenya / England); Aida Muluneh (Ethiopia); Khaled Serour (Egypt); Nadia Kaabi (Tunisia); and Atef Ahmed (Egypt).
Nathan Doss and sculptor Hassan Abdul Rahman (nicknamed Hassan Shark) will also be featured.
Arts, Crafts and music will be showcased at the Cairo Jazz Club, Darb 17and 18, El Genaina Theatre (Al Azhar Park) and the Roman Theater in Minya.
