An arrest warrant has been issued for the vice president of the Wasat Party, Essam Sultan, on charges of insulting State Council judges in several interviews with the media.
A Judicial Investigation Commission headed by Judge Tharwat Hammad had previously decided to summon Sultan for interrogation on Wednesday, but, when he did not show up, the judge was prompted to issue an arrest warrant for him.
His interrogation comes after many complaints were filed against him by State Council judges. The council unanimously approved to take legal action against Sultan, as well as against Gamal Gebril, former member of the dissolved Shura Council, and Taher Abdel Mohsen, former deputy head of the Legislative Committee of the Shura Council.
Hammad has decided to summon Gebril and Abdel Mohsen for interrogation next week.
