Armed thieves steal LE1 mln from Giza currency exchange

Unidentified gunmen on Thursday allegedly robbed the Walaa Currency Exchange office in the Mariouteya district in Giza Governorate, stealing nearly LE1million before fleeing.

According to investigations, the thieves stole Egyptian pounds and dollars after threatening the office manager and staff with murder. They then escaped in a stolen car.

After being informed of the crime, Police Chief Mostafa Rashwan set up an ambush in the Mariouteya district. The suspects were chased and gunfire was exchanged between them and the police, however, none of the suspects were arrested. Security forces are escalating their efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.
