Arab League informs members of Egypt’s decision to considered MB a ‘terrorist group’

The Arab League announced that it has informed all Arab states of Egypt's decision to consider the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group.

The League Secretariat said in a statement issued Monday that it “has received a memorandum from the Permanent Mission of the Arab Republic of Egypt on the decision of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday 25 December, to regard the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group.”

The Arab League informed its member states of “the intention of the concerned Egyptian authorities to take the necessary action to give effect to this decision, based on the Arab Convention for the fight against terrorism and the Arab Convention to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, in cooperation and coordination with the Arab countries in this matter.”

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil al-Araby, discussed how to implement this decision with Foreign Affairs Minister Nabil Fahmy last Thursday at the headquarters of the Arab League.
