Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Araby said Wednesday that many United Nations member states support full membership for an independent Palestinian state, set within the borders that existed before the 1967 Arab-Israeli War.
At a meeting of the Arab Peace Initiative in Qatar on Wednesday, Araby expressed optimism that Palestinians would attain international recognition.
He also denounced what he called “futile” negotiations with Israel for too many years without tangible results, adding that resorting to the UN and the body's Security Council is the only legitimate path for the Palestinians.
