Arab, int’l news outlets highlight Sisi’s remarks at GEM opening

Arab and international satellite TV channels have provided special coverage of the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) on Saturday 1/11/2025, highlighting President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s speech at the historic event.

Al-Arabiya news channel broadcast live President Sisi’s speech, during which he emphasized that the GEM is not just for preserving precious artifacts but is also a living testament to the genius of Egyptians.

He added that this achievement is a result of extensive international cooperation with a group of international companies, drawing special attention to the significant support provided by the friendly state of Japan.

Sky News Arabia has also broadcast live coverage of the global event, which saw high-level participation from leaders and monarchs from all over the world.

In addition, BBC Arabic and France 24 have also provided live coverage of the grand opening event, including the president’s remarks, in which he welcomed guests to Egypt, the oldest nation known to history.

During the ceremony, miniature GEM replicas, engraved with each country’s name, were placed by world leaders and kings, marking their peoples’ participation in the landmark global event. Afterwards, President Sisi placed the final piece representing Egypt, officially inaugurating the museum, one of the world’s largest museums dedicated to a single civilization.
