The Arab and African Youth Platform will kick off Saturday in Aswan, under the patronage and presence of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Over course of three days, between March 16-18, the Arab and African Youth Platform will hold various sessions, workshops and round-table discussions, which will bridge the gap between our young promising leaders and top policy and decision makers.
The platform has been founded for youth across Africa and the Arab world to exchange their experiences. Participants will have the chance to discuss various topics of concern to both Arab and African youth, with the aim of fostering Arab and African cooperation.
According to the platform’s website, youth in the Arab region and Africa share a lot of history and present circumstances making cooperation between them essential for the development of their countries.
The agenda of the forum revolves around a number of issues and topics related to the challenges of the Arab region and the African continent especially under the chairmanship of Egypt of the African Union this year.
The forum also includes round-table talks for young leaders and decision makers, providing open dialogue on the most important concerns for Arab and African youth.
The forum also includes many cultural and entertainment events, with tours held for participants.
Aswan was decorated to host guests of the forum, with flowers and palms decorations planted in the streets and signs of the forum’s logo raised on both sides of the airport road.
Aswan hotels are at 100 percent occupancy, with the forum to be held in the Mövenpick Hotel in Aswan.
Security measures intensified and large numbers of police officers from various security departments were deployed to secure the forum, with Aswan witness to an intensive security presence in preparation for launching the forum.
Egypt’s Interior Ministry said it has devised a security plan to secure the forum. Security leaderships met extensively in order to review the security plan prepared by the ministry to secure the platform.
The meetings discussed procedures to implement the city’s security plan during the forum, and a commitment to emphasizing the highest levels of caution and vigilance.
Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq entrusted security leaders with continuous field monitoring, forming task forces around the clock to coordinate with the concerned authorities to resolve any situation.
Security leaders stressed during their meeting that all forces participating in the security process are in a state of alert and ready to carry out their tasks, and that they will not compromise in enacting the security plan to protect the forum and surrounding areas.
For her part, Health Minister Hala Zayed said that all the hospitals in Aswan on high alert to ensure medical service Arab African Youth Platform.
She said that 40 ambulances equipped for intensive care have been deployed in the scene, in addition to three ambulance boats for emergency services in the Nile River.
Health Ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed stated that strategic stocks were provided in large quantities for medicines and medical supplies in all hospitals in the governorate.
