Antiquities missing from Coptic Museum

“We found out three years ago that there were five important pieces of antiquities missing from the Coptic Museum,” said Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities Secretary General Zahi Hawass in press statements on Monday.

Hawass held the former museum director responsible for the missing pieces, which the council’s technical committee discovered when it checked the museum’s inventory after the director retired.

The incident was reported to the prosecution on 28 September 2008.
