Anti-Moussa campaign is fuelled by anti-regime actors: Moussa spokesman

Adel Esmat, the official spokesman for the campaign of presidential candidate Moussa Mostafa Moussa, said that the defamatory campaign and attacks against Moussa is aimed primarily at the Egyptian presidential election as a whole and at the Egyptian regime.

He believed that critics are seeking to consolidate the idea that Moussa is just a “background actor” for President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi during the election, he added.

In a statement made on Thursday, Esmat added that terrorist groups are working hard to serve the international Muslim Brotherhood organization, as well as the intelligence services that are hostile to Egypt. He said they aim to decrease voter turnout in the election by promoting the idea that the election results are already settled in advance.

He went on to say that people are aware though of the tricks of “those fugitives in Turkey and Qatar, and the huge money pumped by the Muslim Brotherhood,” through media outlets that promote poisonous propaganda from Qatar and Turkey.

“But of all this will not weaken the determination of citizens willing to participate,” he added, and to “cast their votes in the Egyptian election, to cross this difficult stage of the country’s history.”

Esmat emphasized that Moussa and his campaign belong to the June 30 revolution, which overthrew the Muslim Brotherhood, and that they are working hard to thwart schemes against Egypt.
