Presidential candidate Amr Moussa has described as both amusing and unrealistic a poll conducted by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces on its Facebook page. The poll sought to explore the popularity of several prospective presidential candidates.
“The council should have surveyed whether people want the constitution or the elections first,” said Moussa
He said that the poll gave the impression that people differ over the candidates, which in turn implies that the transition period should be extended, a scenario that he rejects.
He said various political forces had sent him a memorandum in which they stated that they were in favor of writing a constitution before holding any elections. “Should this be the choice of the people, I will adhere to it,” he said.
Moussa came fifth in the poll, with 7 percent of the total votes, while Mohamed ElBaradei came first, with 32 percent.
