Pope of Alexandria Tawadros II oversaw activities for the end of the “Back to Roots” International Week in the Monastery of Saint Pishoy at Wadi al-Natroun on Saturday, which was attended by several bishops, priests and public figures.
Pope Tawadros II prayed after he received joyful melodies, and organizers played the Patriotic Anthem.
The program aims to bring worldwide Coptic youth together for educational, cultural, spiritual, and tourist visits to Cairo, Alexandria, Ismalia, Wadi al-Natroun and other monasteries, while also enjoying Egypt’s other sights such as the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.
President Abdel al-Fattah al-Sisi and the Ministries of Tourism, Antiquities and Sport welcomed the delegation of young Copts into the country. Sisi stressed that Egypt took great pride in Copts who achieved success abroad, noting that Egyptian Muslims and Christians co-exist in love and harmony.
Around 200 young Copts between 22 and 30 years old participated in the program, meeting with several bishops from the Coptic Orthodox Church and Coptic parliamentarians.
