A man suspected of killing a police sergeant in Qaliubiya was killed in an exchange of fire with police in Alexandria on Monday.
Police suspect the dead man of having killed police sergeant Maher Sayyed Mostafa in a crackdown on drug dealers a few days ago in Qaliubiya.
A security source with the Interior Ministry said Qaliubiya and Alexandria security directorates identified the suspect and prepared a raid to arrest him on a farm on Aqariya road in Alexandria.
The suspect exchanged fire with police and was killed, said the source.
The automatic rifle used by the suspect in the exchange of fire was seized by investigators.
