Four people were killed and eight others were injured when a three-story building collapsed on Safar Street in Alexandria's Gomrok district Monday.
Rescue workers retrieved the victims' bodies. The dead include two children, 6 and 2 years old.
The wounded residents were taken to the Alexandria University Hospital.
Alexandria had seen several fatal collapses recently; with the same district witnessing an earlier collapse a month ago, killing 19.
Failure by local authorities to execute demolition orders on time and the unauthorized construction of additional floors are the primary culprits behind catastrophic building collapses, of which Egypt has witnessed an increase in over the past few years.
