Alexandria police accused pro-Muslim Brotherhood demonstrators of murdering one person and injuring two others during protests on Friday.
Authorities added that 25 demonstrators were detained for the alleged charges.
In a statement on Friday, the police department said it had detected protests by "supporters of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood organization" around Alexandria, where participants allegedly chanted anti-police and anti-army slogans, held incitive banners and hindered traffic.
The statement added that those arrested allegedly had "firearms, fireworks and gas."
