The Wadi al-Natroun-Alamein road will reopen next week in the Cairo direction after construction on the toll gates are completed, the Transport Ministry said Tuesday.
Ministry spokesperson Ayman al-Sheraie said the road is 8 meters wide,135-km long and divided into three lanes.
He set the total cost of the renovations at LE1.920 billion, including upgrades, toll gates and the addition of a third lane.
Sheraie added that the renovated road will hopefully boost trade between Egypt and Libya, as well as domestic tourism movement between Cairo and the Northern Coast.
