Arab League (AL) Assistant Secretary General and Head of Economic Affairs Sector Ali Ibn Ibrahim al Maliki Tuesday affirmed unwavering support of the AL for Egypt’s right to water of the Nile River through the Arab ministerial councils, including the Arab Ministerial Water Council.
The AL and a number of Arab countries are working with Egypt to preserve its water rights, Maliki said in exclusive statements to MENA, on the sidelines of his participation in the 6th Arab Water Conference in Jordan.
The AL is providing all forms of support to Egypt and other Arab countries in order to preserve their water rights, Maliki said.
He emphasized that the pan-Arab body spares no effort in this regard with Egypt and other member states, through providing al means to preserve the water rights.
He added that the main purpose of this support is to uphold Arab cooperation and joint action, develop it and remove any obstacles facing the water resources of Arab member states, including Egypt.
