Al-Masry Al-Youm initiative turns real as Sisi invites readers for iftar

The initiative entitled “The President’s Invitation” launched by Al-Masry Al-Youm at the beginning of Ramadan has turned real, as the presidency invited several readers on Sunday to attend a personal Iftar, away from official protocols, with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in his resthouse at the presidential residence.

This initiative came within Sisi’s interests to listen to people’s viewpoints and problems.

The Presidency has been in communication over the past few days with Mohamed al-Sayyed Saleh, chief editor of Al-Masry Al-Youm, to get information about the citizens whom the newspaper talked to since the beginning of Ramadan.

The initiative was based on an inspired scenario, through which citizens invited the president for Iftar to talk to him about their demands and suggestions. The newspaper made sure that the readers chosen were from across the country.

At the back page of Al-Masry Al-Youm, the citizens voiced their aspirations and demands. They called on Sisi to intervene to face the price hikes; end corruption; develop the education sector; as well as the medical services system.

They also called for maintaining the road network and improving the network of roads that link villages of the Delta to Upper Egypt.

The citizens demanded providing the youth with jobs to face unemployment and developing the remote areas of the country that tend to be the most impoverished and in need of services.
