Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb is paying an official visit to Italy at the invitation of Italian President Sergio Mattarella to discuss issues of common concern.
Al-Tayeb is also delivering a speech before the Italian Parliament about religions, peace, moderation, coexistence and the renouncing of violence and extremism.
The visit comes within Al-Tayeb’s efforts to build a civilized dialogue between the East and the West that is based on respect, acceptance and the right to peaceful living.
