Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb has offered congratulations to the Libyan people on the progress of their revolution and the takeover of the Libyan capital of Tripoli.
Tayyeb said in his statement on Tuesday that God has blessed the Libyans with victory, support and a future full of freedom, justice and democracy.
He said Arab and Islamic countries demand dignity, equality, democracy, consultation over self-determination, the penalizing of officials for the sake of social peace, and reform.
In the statement, he called on Arabs in Yemen and Syria not to deviate from the peaceful path, which has fascinated the whole world.
