Ain Shams University Hospitals received 45 patients injured during violence outside Republican Guard House early Monday, spokesperson Ibrahim Magdy said, after armed forces and supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy clashed in eastern Cairo.
Magdy told Al-Masry Al-Youm most of the injured were young people. Eight cases were still being treated in intensive care units, he added, while two had sustained life-threatening injuries.
Asked about the locations injured people had been brought from, Magdy said only two cases came from Cairo. The rest had been brought from the Delta or Upper Egypt.
He added that two injured army recruits arrived at Ain Shams University Hospital but they were immediately transferred to a military hospital.
