Aid flows to Gaza through al-Awja and Karam Abu Salem crossings: Report

The AlQahera News channel reported that humanitarian aid trucks began moving from Egyptian territory in the early hours of Monday morning toward al-Awja and Karam Abu Salem crossings, designated by the Israeli  authorities for the passage of aid into Gaza.

This followed a complete halt at the crossings on Sunday.

AlQahera News channel correspondent Mostafa Abdel-Fattah, said during a live interview, that the trucks undergo thorough inspections by Israeli authorities, a common procedure since the beginning of the war on Gaza.

He pointed out that this is part of the protocols imposed by Israel on aid before it enters the besieged Strip.

Abdel-Fattah added that the Israeli authorities had refused on Sunday to allow any aid truck to cross, bringing relief traffic to a complete standstill.

Trucks departing from Egypt were forced to return after hours of waiting at the crossings, carrying their full loads.

The entry of aid into the Rafah crossing on Monday marks a new breakthrough, he said, the result of intensive efforts by mediators to reactivate humanitarian aid flows after the stalemate that prevailed on Sunday.

Operations are resuming at an accelerated pace, with close monitoring from the Egyptian side.
