Prosecutors are investigating Ahly football star Emad Meteib on charges that he fired a gun at a taxi driver in Giza.
Meteib is accused of firing three shots in the direction of a taxi after the driver verbally assaulted his wife while she was driving near her house.
The taxi driver, however, has denied that Meteib had shot at him, despite the fact that the license plate number he reported to police after the incident matches that of Meteib’s car.
The footballer faces charges of discharging a firearm in a public place.
Meteib has denied the charges, saying, “I wasn’t there in the first place."
