Egypt’s leading football club Al-Ahly said it has filed a complaint with FIFA against the Spanish league’s Barcelona as the latter claimed it equals with the Egyptian side’s international titles.
In its official letter to the world’s football governing federation, Ahly said Barcelona, claiming its list of 20 achievements, included three titles unrecognized by the European federation UEFA, namely the Inter-Cities Fairs Cups.
Barcelona, beating Argentina’s River Plate in the Clubs World Cup final in Japan on December 20, said it had achieved a 20-title achievement.
Ahly acquired their 20th continental title in 2014, scoring the African Confederation Cup at the expense of Ivory Coast’s Sewe Sport, afterwards claiming to be the world’s top scorer of international titles.
