Most of the board members agreed that Abu Treika will not take over any official post in the club, like other outgoing players. The board is also mulling filing a lawsuit against the player in case he retires after the World Club Cup, since he has an official contract with the club, sources added.
The club is still waiting for Abu Treika to inform them of his retirement in an official letter, so legal measures could be taken against him.
Mohamed Fadlallah, FIFA regulation expert, explained that regulations keep the club’s rights against any player who decided to retire before his contract ends. He added that the club has the right to file a lawsuit at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against any player who retires before his contract is ended.
According to Fadlallah, CAS provides the club with exception to file lawsuit at the civil judiciary to demand the player pay financial compensations. In case he did not pay, he would be imprisoned.
Fadlallah added that the issue is not optional but mandatory so as not to squander public money.
In related news, Had Khasaba, football sector manager, concluded investigations on a photo circulated on Facebook for the club youth team flashing the Rabaa al-Adaweya sign.
However, the players said they did not mean anything political, but they were referring to the match with Zamalek at which they won 4-2.
