The Alexandria Administrative Court refused on Saturday to enrol a senior official's son in the technical secondary school of the Drinking Water and Sewage Company over the son of an ordinary farmer.
The court said the farmer’s son should be accepted because the state is committed to providing equal opportunities to all citizens without discrimination.
It also said that favoring the sons of senior officials in accessing educational opportunities is a criminal offense that incites discrimination and violates social justice.
The court added that the son of the official did not pass the entrance exam of the school and should therefore not be enrolled.
