Activists march against security violations, clash with Mubarak supporters

Dozens of activists marched in Cairo on Tuesday to condemn violations made by security forces during clashes that erupted recently at the cabinet of ministers and on Mohamed Mahmoud Street.

The protesters marched from Mohandiseen to Dokki and called for a transfer of power to civilians.

Demonstrators chanted "Down with the rule of the military," "The people are a red line," and "What a shame! Brothers are firing at each other."

Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), which assumed power after former President Hosni Mubarak stepped down on 11 February, has been criticized for suppressing protests.

Fifty-nine people were killed when army and security forces cracked protests  in November and December.

Many Egyptians were deeply angered by a video circulated on the internet that showed officers beating protesters. Another video showed soldiers dragging a female protester on the ground, her body exposed as soldiers kicked her in the chest.

Protesters marching Tuesday clashed with Mubarak supporters who chanted, "A great president — we would lay down our lives for him and that still would not be enough!"

The march was part of a series of protests organized by the Lying Military campaign, which aims to expose violations committed against protesters, raise citizen awareness, and emphasize that the revolution is continuing.
