Activists get 3 years in prison for trying to storm attorney general’s office

The Azbakiya Misdemeanor Court on Sunday sentenced three political activists to three years in prison for trying to storm the attorney general’s office and assault its staff.

Police arrested Tarek Mohamed, Mohamed Roshdy and Ibrahim al-Sunni on 28 February while they were demonstrating in front of the attorney general’s office after foreign NGO employees charged with receiving illegal funds were allowed to leave the country.

The activists’ lawyer said he would appeal the sentence.
