Yash Raj Films (YRF), the producer of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan”, announced Monday evening that the movie has become the highest-grossing film in the history of Indian cinema.
The film has achieved revenues amounting to US$ 115.4 million, it said, adding that the film was only released 17 days ago in theaters around the world.
Pathaan brings Indian star Shah Rukh Khan back to the big screen after five years since his last starring role in “Zero”, which was released in 2018.
The film had a massive budget set for its production, exceeding $30 million, while its production company promoted the film heavily and screened it in 8,000 cinemas globally.
The film co-stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, Ashutosh Rana, Dimple Kapadia, Gautam Rody, with a special appearance by Salman Khan.
It is directed by Siddharth Anand, and written by Shridhar Raghavan, Abbas Tairwala.
