Abu Simbel Temple lit in orange to commemorate International Day to End Violence Against Women

The UN Women's office in Egypt illuminated the Abu Simbel Temple with the color organge on November 25 to commemorate the International Day to End Violence Against Women and to announce the start of 16 days of activities to confront violence against women.
 
The orange color represents the UN's UNITE campaign to end violence against women.
 
The event aimed to send a message to the whole world that Egypt is exerting efforts to confront all types of violence against women.
 
The UN Women's office, the National Council for Women and Etijah, an NGO, plan to organize an event at the Aswan Cultural Center Thursday to commemorate the International Day to End Violence Against Women. 
 
"The event gives an opportunity to highlight the important role played by youth in transforming Egyptian society as it was witnessed in the process of the women’s citizenship initiative," the UN Women's office said in a statement.
