Presidential hopeful Abdel Moneim Abouel Fotouh’s electoral campaign blamed the ruling military council and cabinet for the death of one of its members in the Abbasseya clashes during which at least eleven people were killed and hundreds were injured.
In a statement on Thursday, the campaign said Abul Hassan Ibrahim was killed during the clashes which took place on Wednesday.
The campaign also denounced “the chaotic situations” in Egypt and blamed the military junta and the cabinet for the bloodshed.
Abouel Fotouh suspended his campaign on Wednesday in protest of the attack on peaceful demonstrators in Abbasseya. Abouel Fotouh called on the People’s Assembly, in a statement, to “wake” the interior minister to fulfill his duties and protect the protesters.
