Abbasiya Mental Health Hospital doctors stage vigil

Doctors of the Abbasiya Mental Health Hospital staged a vigil on Sunday to protest charging them of trading in human organs. They say the public prosecutor has repeatedly summoned doctors and nurses to interrogate them about this matter.

The charge was filed by a brother of a patient who was admitted to the hospital and released upon his free will.

The doctors called on Health Minister Maha al-Rabat to activate the role of the national and regional mental health councils to apply the law on psychological patients and educate the community. They also demanded funds for patients' rights committees.

They asked the minister to let the public prosecutor talk to the legal representative of the hospital in case of any similar complaints.
