The number of Egyptian expatriates who registered to attend the fourth edition of the Egyptian Expatriates Conference, scheduled to be held on July 31, included 1,000 people from more than 56 countries around the world, Immigration Minister Soha Gendi announced.
This number includes representatives of 66 associations or communities for Egyptian expatriates.
According to a statement from Gendi on Saturday, the fourth edition of the conference will discuss a number of main topics in different areas including economy, politics, education, and social and service related areas.
The topics were identified based on constant communication with Egyptian expatriates, through weekly virtual meetings under the “An Hour with the Minister” initiative.
Gendi revealed the topics of the sessions of the conference, which include an opening session under the title “Statement of Account”, during which the Gendi will review the efforts made by the Ministry of Immigration throughout the current year to meet the demands of Egyptian expatriates, and the steps taken to implement the recommendations issued by the previous conference.
Economic aid
The first session of the conference, which is concerned with the economy, will review the performance of the Egyptian economy in recent years amid global economic crises, she explained.
It also reviews achievements made from activating financial policy tools to encourage an increase in the rates of cash transfers in hard currency by Egyptian expatriates, to support achieving the goals of Egypt’s sustainable development plans.
The session further reviews prominent efforts by the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones in developing and diversifying the current investment fields, overcoming obstacles, and promoting good investment opportunities to ensure efficient participation of Egyptian expatriates investing in Egypt.
A presentation will be held on the establishment of the joint stock company for the investments of Egyptian expatriates in response to their demands in the previous 2022 edition of the conference.
Bolstering education
The second session, which addresses politics and education, discusses the importance of the participation of Egyptian expatriates in national dialogue.
This dialogue is a great national opportunity to exchange points of view on important issues amongst groups of people at home and abroad.
This will work towards addressing the challenges they face and review the foreign policy objectives of the Egyptian government and the role of Egyptian expatriates in achieving these objectives.
The session also reviews what has been achieved in education for the children of Egyptian expatriates including the launch of e-platforms in coordination with the Ministry of Education for expatriate children in primary, preparatory and secondary education.
This session discusses the obstacles that were overcome in order to integrate children returning from areas of armed conflict into Egyptian universities as well as the opportunities provided to the children of Egypt abroad to study in Egyptian private universities and other universities.
Achieving social solidarity
According to the Minister of Immigration, the third session targets social and service areas, discussing ways to coordinate with the Ministry of Social Solidarity regarding the establishment of the Egyptian Expatriates Fund, striving to achieve solidarity among Egyptian expatriates.
The fund also aims to provide health and social insurance services, as well as to coordinate the transfer of deceased expatriates in cases of emergency and medical evacuation in critical cases.
