Reporters and TV presenters from a Muslim Brotherhood-run satellite channel protested Wednesday outside the Journalists Syndicate against the detention of their colleagues by military police forces amid violence last week near the Defense Ministry.
Military police detained five Misr 25 workers and dozens of others last Friday, later releasing them. At least 12 people were killed during clashes in the Cairo neighborhood of Abbasseya last week, including one soldier on Friday.
Protesters have said military police intentionally arrested journalists, roughed them up and harassed them to prevent them from covering the clashes.
Egypt chief military judge Adel al-Morsy on Tuesday announced the release of all reporters arrested during the events, saying the military had confirmed their identities through their employers and the Journalists Syndicate.
