Intelligence chief Mourad Mowafy met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Wednesday in Cairo and discussed efforts to implement the reconciliation agreement that was signed between rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah on 4 May in Egypt.
Meanwhile, the Hamas political bureau has reiterated the need for strict implementation of the Cairo reconciliation agreement and the Doha declaration signed by Abbas and Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal.
An official Hamas source said implementation of the agreements is necessary to end the division, establish Palestinians’ legitimate rights, defeat the Zionist occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
