Egyptian officials says a French national has been killed in a shooting in the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh.
A police official says the 42-year-old man died from gunshot wounds to the stomach and thigh.
There were differing accounts, however, regarding the circumstances of Saturday's shooting.
The police official says the man was hit randomly in a drive-by shooting by Bedouin gunmen who opened fire on the Old Souk in Sharm el-Sheikh to avenge the death of a tribesman killed by police earlier in the day.
A military official, however, says the man got caught up in gunfire during a bank robbery in the town.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they aren't authorized to brief the media.
