The first anniversary of the revolution is not for celebration but a chance to recall a historic day and honor martyrs killed in the revolution last year, presidential hopeful Amr Moussa said Wednesday in Tahrir Square.
Members of Moussa's presidential campaign carried the former Arab League secretary general during his visit to Tahrir.
"The revolution has won, though not conclusively, but it is continuing and will not be defeated, even if it has yet to achieve full victory," Moussa said.
The presidential hopeful arrived in Tahrir in casual clothes along with members of his campaign.
"When you decide to rebuild your country, you need expertise," Moussa said, addressing protesters in Tahrir. "Over the next four years, the youth should be prepared to engage in political life."
He also supported criticism of the ruling military council for making slow and wrong decisions.
He told Al-Masry Al-Youm that handing power over to civilians is important, provided it is given to an elected entity. Otherwise, he said, a transfer of power could turn Egypt into a chaotic or dictatorial state.
Moussa called for an end to corruption and for the revolutionaries and national groups to work together.
"I trust that what happened in Egypt over the past weeks will not be repeated. There will be no clashes in which bullets, stones and bombs are used, because Egypt cannot tolerate any more chaos," he said.
