Alaa Abd El Fattah, a blogger and political activist in prison on charges connected with October’s Maspero clashes, voted in parliamentary elections from prison on Thursday. The blogger was allowed to vote as a result of a judicial ruling issued by the Administrative Court.
The high elections commission dispatched a judge with a ballot box to Tora Prison, where Abd El Fattah cast his vote.
The commission declined similar requests from five other inmates, saying they had already been convicted, whereas Abdel Fattah is being held on remand.
