Malak el-Ezzawy seasonal collection features deep colors, animal prints

Fashion designer Malak el-Ezzawy finally launched her long-awaited fall/winter 2012 collection, with the 50 cocktail and evening gowns available at Ezzawy’s showroom in Mohandiseen.

“The collection is inspired by the deep shades of precious stones; ruby red, emerald green, sapphire blue and black,” Ezzawy explains.

Animal prints are the special signature of this collection, with peacock, tiger, leopard and lizard prints. Other dresses are floral but use the same dark shades featured in the rest of the collection. She mostly used chiffon and lace fabrics.

The designer used chains and beading on certain dresses as accessories and one cocktail dress features white feathers.

The collection includes 12 short dresses for women with petite figures.

"Most of these dresses have a short fit, but with an extension or a train to give it the movement and the feel of a long evening dress,” explains Ezzawy.

As for the designs, Ezzawy this season embraced the one-shoulder cut and used it on several of her short and long dresses.

“I have also made a few backless dresses,” she says.

“My designs are not too revealing; the sexiness of the dress is a result of the fabric and the cut."

The dresses can be altered according to clients’ needs and styles.

Most dresses are flowy and figure-hugging and don't have heavy lining or uncomfortable cuts. A few dresses have a corset style, which is one of the most flattering cuts in the world of fashion.

The price range is around LE4000 for short dresses and LE5000-6000 for long ones.

The young designer is preparing to show her collection at Dubai’s fashion week on 21 October.
