The Egyptian government has decided to increase its compensation to families of protesters killed during the 25 January revolution.
The head of Egypt's ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, has decided to raise each family's compensation to LE30,000, up from LE5000.
Tantawi will also form a panel of SCAF members to assist in managing the government-run fund for martyrs of the revolution as of Sunday.
He also ordered that the payment of the funds be delivered within 72 hours.
Authorities estimate that 825 were killed and 6000 injured in former President Hosni Mubarak regime's crackdown on pro-democracy protesters during the 18-day uprising that eventually led to Mubarak's resignation from the presidency in February.
