The Coptic Orthodox Church has called off a church celebration due to the current political and security conditions in the country, church sources said.
The celebration was to commemorate the monasticism of Pope Shenouda III, scheduled to be held at the Father Bishoy Monastery on Monday, the source added.
Father Marcos, bishop for Shubra al-Kheima, said bishops and monks usually travel to the monastery from around Egypt and other countries to extend their greetings to the pope that day.
